Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ Review
Are you looking for a netbook or mini notebook? Recently I bought an Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ and did a review.
Here is the Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ Review:
Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ, unlike other netbook, is powered by a 1.3GHz Intel Pentium dual-core processor SU4100 which is a Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage aka CULV processor. The operating system for Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ is Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.
Memory
Fitted with 2GB DDR 2 400 Hz Memory on one of the 2 memory slots, you can opt to upgrade the ram for Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ to a maximum of 4GB. Hard Drive is partitioned into 3 parts. Disk #0 Partition #0 is 12GB, Disk #0 Partition #1 is 100MB, Disk #0 Partition #2 (Drive C is 285.99GB. Total space is 320,070,320,640 bytes or 298.09GB, but spec stated is 320GB HDD.
Display
Display is 11.6-inch High Definition Widescreen CineCrystal™ LED-backlit TFT LCD. Maximum screen resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels. Aspect ratio at 16:9. Refresh rate is set at 60 Hz. Maximum color quality is 32 bit. Screen brightness can be controlled by Fn + Left Arrow or Right Arrow.
Graphics Card
Graphics card is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD aka GMA X4500 HD which is a DirectX 10 capable onboard graphics adapter in the GS45 chipset. The chip has no dedicated graphics memory, but dynamically takes an amount from the main memory (up to 796 MB).
HDMI & VGA Ports
Watching YouTube HD videos or HD movies on your HD TV is possible by connecting your HD TV’s High-Definition Multimedia Interface aka HDMI port to Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ’s HDMI port. Alternatively, you can also connect 1810TZ to an external monitor or LCD projector through the VGA port.
USB Ports
If you are not used to touch pad and used USB mouse or other USB gadgets like USB Camera, USB Speakers or USB external drive, Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ offer 3 x USB 2.0 ports (1 on the left side, 2 on the right side).
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is useful when you want to transfer files, videos from PC to PC, HandPhone to PC. Bluetooth on Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ is 2.1+ Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). It can be enable or disable using Fn + F3.
Memory Card
Memory card reader can be very useful if you have a digital camera or used memory card to copy or backup files. Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ has a Multi-in-1 card reader that accepts SD, MMC, MS, MS PRO, xD. However only one card can be operated at a given time.
Line-out Jack
Like other netbook, Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ also offer a Headphone/speaker/line-out jack which allow you to connect to speakers to amplify the audio or headphones to listen to the audio privately so as not to disturb those around you. Sound volume can be controlled by Fn + Up Arrow or Down Arrow.
Ethernet Port
If you are wired connection, Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ has an Ethernet (RJ-45) port which allow you to connect to Ethernet 10/100/1000-based network. If you are using wireless connection, just take note that the WLAN is 802.11b/g/Draft-N.
Battery
Battery is 6-cell 5600mAh Li-ion which according to Acer can last 8 hours of usage. It really depends how you use it and are affected by many factors like Wifi on/off, Bluetooth on/off, Display Brightness, Applications running, USB usage.
Weight
Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ weighs just 1.4kg (with the 6-cell battery installed). Height is 22.1mm at its thinnest, 30mm at its thickest. Width is 285mm, Depth is 204mm.
Priced at USD$570 without freebie, Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ is a steal compared with Intel Atom single core processor powered netbook.
